Oral Pathology (Oral Cancer)

Usually the soft tissue of the mouth is smooth and a reddish pink color. Changes occurring in the appearance of the tissue may be a warning sign of a benign disease or oral cancer. Signs that there may be a problem include; white or red areas, sores and ulcers that do not heal, thickened or lumpy tissues, or difficulty in swallowing. The only way for positive diagnosis is a biopsy and examination by a pathologist.
